"Charming ambience, fantastic 3-course prix fixe dinner, and engaged service make this place a wonderful little gem on U St. We enjoyed the following dishes: Burrata, Olive Oil, & Chutney - very fresh, solid iteration on this popular dish. Tarte Flambée (Fine Dough, Caramelized Onions, Anchovies, Olives, Burrata) - loved the combo of the anchovy and caramelized onions flavor, excellent. Skirt Steak (Shallots on the Skin) - excellent marinated steak, dressed with some delicious shallots Hamburger Double (Cheddar and Cocktail Sauce) - robust burger, lathered with thick cheddar. Creme brulee - pretty standard in terms of flavor, but good Cheesecake - enjoyed the bites I tried. Notes the desserts vary each day apparently. Cocktails were pretty good overall. Definitely recommended. While the food wasn't superlative, the charm and ambience makes up for it."

"This cocktail happy hour is... Insane. These are maybe the best priced--and quality--cocktails for happy at any U street area bar. The atmosphere is suave, service is very friendly and chatty, and the $10 skirt steak happy hour tapas with chimichurri was incredible. It's a great new addition to the area."

"RECOMMEND— I had an amazing experience. Jorge was a great waiter and recommend some of the best dishes I’ve had. The roasted chicken was probably one of the juiciest and tastiest cuts I’ve tasted from a restaurant in this side of the Atlantic."

"Just randomly stumbled on this gem of a bistro! Was warmly greeted by Ricky to find a cozy spot at the bar. First impressions were lovely. Rich warm tones with candles and fresh flowers made the ambience very romantic. Cocktails and bubbles VERY well priced. Beautiful glassware and settings. Food was spectacular. Ordered a quiche and was happily surprised with how much food I received for the price (see photo). Mark was my bartender/server and was very attentive and kind. I think I found my new favorite brunch spot in DC. I will definitely be back..probably next weekend :)"

"I had both brunch and dinner at Bonne vie cafe and bistro. every visit was outstanding. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for relaxing with a coffee or enjoying a full meal. Brunch was delicious—fresh ingredients, generous portions, and beautifully presented dishes. Dinner was just as impressive, with rich flavors and great attention to detail. The coffee deserves a special mention too: smooth, perfectly brewed, and clearly made with care. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made me feel truly welcomed. You can tell they take pride in what they do. This place has become one of my new favorites, and I can’t wait to come back. Highly recommended!"

"Being upstairs for jazz night on Thursday really felt like being in France! Beautiful decor, french flag blowing in the wind outside, the live jazz music was awesome. Baguette was warm, salad dressing wasn’t over the top like in American restaurants. Also the espresso martini was great! Our waitress Jocelyn was lovely. If you like live music and relaxing with drinks and dinner, check this place out, especially for Thursday night jazz."
